Chartreuse Chamois hunting in France

The specie prefers wooded areas and lower mountain terrain. Similar to other Chamois species, it uses the environment to its advantage and adapts to a very wide range of climates and plant varieties.

The hunting area for this magnificent Chamois is located in the middle of the Chartreuse Mountain national park, the only place in the world where you can hunt and officially register your trophy. The number of hunting permits is very limited and it is an important issue, to be sure of getting the permit in the right place, you should look for the hunt beforehand.

Beside the Chartreuse Chamois, France offers vast opportunity for other species like: Alpine Chamois, Vercor Chamois, Pyrenean Chamois and Mouflon Sheep. We offer hunts on the very best hunting areas depending on the game you are looking for. The surroundings
are very wild and absolutely outstanding (Alps and Pyrenean mountains).

How to get there:

You have many opportunities to get to Lyon with different airlines. You will be met and assisted through the customs at the airport by our representatives who will take care of all the paperwork and formalities. We will drive you to the hotel in the hunting area after.

Hunting season:

From mid-September to end of January.

Hunting:

This is a spot-and-stalk hunt. The hunt considers long walking, sometimes 6-8 hours a day Not much climbing involved, physically not difficult. You should expect the altitude of 3200-6500 ft.

Accommodation:

Small hotels close to the hunting area, European class 3-4 stars. Nice and comfortable with traditional cuisine restaurants.

Weather:

It is nice and warm weather from the beginning of the season till the end of October. Rare rains start end of October, mid of November in the mountains starts the snow.

The Chartreuse chamois is only found in the Chartreuse mountains between Grenoble and Chambery.
