That is why this country holds a great diversity of animal life. There are ideal habitats for Altay Ibex and Gobi Ibex; Altay, Hangay and Gobi Argali; Black-tailed and White-tailed Gazelle, Wolf, Maral, Moose, Brown Bear, Siberian Roe deer and many other species. Altay Ibex inhabits Altay Mountains of western Mongolia. The average trophy size is 39-45 inches, with a number of trophies taken in excess of 50-53 inches. This hunt can be nicely combined with Siberian Roe deer and Wolf.

How to get there:

You fly to Ulaanbaatar (UB). Our representative meets you, assists through the customs and takes to the hotel for overnight. We do everything possible to expedite the custom procedure. Next morning you fly to western Mongolia (Khovd) and from there we transfer you to the camp.

Hunting season:

Mid July to mid-October.

Ibex hunting:

Hunting is done on foot by spot-and-stalk. Jeeps or horses are used for transportation to the hunting area. Ibex are found in good numbers at 7,000-8,500 feet. During the day you will explore the upper edges of the mountains and examine the hillsides, feeding and resting areas through the field glasses. You will spot males, evaluate their size, and then complete the stalk.

Accommodation:

The camps are traditional Asian yurts. They are warm, clean and comfortable with separate areas for dining, bathing and sleeping. Every camp has a cook and interpreter. You will find a good food and a quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets.

Weather:

In July and August, the weather is generally moderate, with temperatures ranging between 50-80 F. Nights are always cool due to the high elevation. Mongolia is known as a country with 255 cloudless days each year. That is why it is often called the Land of Blue Sky. Snow can be expected at the tops in the last decade of September.

Mongolia has many different vegetation zones: steppe, desert, taiga forest and mountain desert steppe.
