Chartreuse Chamois hunting in France
The Chartreuse Chamois is one of the rarest mountain game animals in Europe. It is found exclusively in the Chartreuse Mountains between Grenoble and Chambéry in France, making this the only place in the world where hunters can legally harvest and officially register this unique trophy.
Hunting takes place within the magnificent Chartreuse Mountains. Due to the extremely limited number of permits issued each year, early booking is highly recommended.
France also offers outstanding hunting opportunities for other mountain species, including Alpine Chamois, Vercors Chamois, Pyrenean Chamois, and French Mainland Corsican Mouflon. We organize the hunts in the finest areas according to your preferred species.

Mid-September – End of January
This is a classic spot-and-stalk mountain hunt. Hunters spend long days searching for mature chamois, with daily walks and climbs. Although the terrain is mountainous, it is generally not overly demanding and involves relatively little climbing. Hunting takes place at elevations between 1.000 and 2.000 meters (3.200–6.500 ft) above sea level.
Accommodation is provided in the guest houses located close to the hunting area, offering traditional French cuisine and excellent service.
The beginning of the season is generally warm and pleasant. Rain becomes more frequent from late October, while the first snowfall in the mountains usually occurs in mid-November.
