They can be found only in the most remote and practically inaccessible areas of Russia. Snow Sheep population in Russia is estimated to be around 57,000 heads and that is not including protected species such as Putorana Sheep. Kolyma Snow Sheep inhabits mountainous terrains of Magadan region in Russia. Hunters can l find excellent populations of Snow Sheep there. Success is close to 100%.
How to get there:
You fly to Moscow where you are met by our crew, and then you will fly to Magadan. We will do everything possible to expedite the customs procedure. From Magadan you will be transferred to the camp either by helicopter MI-8. It takes almost two hours to get to camp or by boat to hunt on the coast.
Hunting season:
From August 1 to September 20. Optimal hunting period is from August 1 to September 10.
Snow sheep hunting:
Traditional stalking hunt. Backpack and lots of hard hunting on foot can be expected. Be in a good shape. A temporary tented camp is set up with the specific goal of hunting a particular animal or area
Accommodation:
The camps are modern windproof tents. They are usually equipped with stoves and cots. There is one separate large tent for dining and one for shower in most camps. The camps are located in mountain valleys at 2,500-3,000 feet. Every camp has a cook. You will find a very good Russian style food and a quality service. Spike camps are small tents; packed lunch is provided. Be prepared for rather ascetic conditions.
