Caucasian Chamois is graceful, nimble, and extremely surefooted, perfectly adapted to high alpine slopes of the Caucasus. Сhamois hunting offers not only the thrill of pursuing a challenging trophy but also the opportunity to experience some of the most stunning mountain landscapes in Russia
The Caucasian Chamois is a highly agile and elusive mountain species, blending the traits of a goat and an antelope. These animals inhabit the high alpine slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in Russia, rarely descending below 5.500 feet.
Chamois hunting offers a unique combination of breathtaking mountain scenery and a challenging hunt.
Chamois hunting requires physical durability, patience and mountain hunting skills. The early mornings and late evenings are time for most mountain species. Your goal is to get an alpine level while animals are still feeding and locate them before they see or smell you. Hunters must stalk very carefully using natural cover, avoid a dangerous path and be ready for a long-range shooting.
Your journey begins with a flight to one of Moscow’s International airports. Upon arrival, our team will meet you, assist with customs, and transfer you to your hotel.
The following morning, you will take a domestic flight to Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia republic, where your hunting adventure begins.
The season runs from August 1 to November 30, taking advantage of the best conditions for both stalking and observing the high mountain landscapes.
All Chamois hunting is conducted on foot, making this an authentic mountain hunting experience. Males are usually found in very remote areas at elevations around 6.500 feet (2000 meters).
Each day involves hiking and exploring upper mountain ridges, using binoculars to locate feeding and resting areas.
Once the trophy is spotted, the final approach is made entirely on foot, often across steep and rugged terrain. Physical fitness, stamina, and patience are key factors for a successful hunt.
You will stay in a decent hunting house.
Mountain weather is unpredictable and can change rapidly. Expect a wide range of temperatures due to altitude and surrounding glaciers.
● August to mid-September: daytime highs 25–27°C (77–80°F), lows 2–5°C (35–40°F)
● Mid-September to October: daytime highs 10–15°C (50–59°F), nighttime lows 5 to 0°C (31–41°F)
● November: daytime highs 0–5°C (32–41°F), nighttime lows −10 to −5°C (14–23°F)
Be prepared for sudden weather shifts — a bright morning can quickly turn to dense fog or light rain.
